Q: Will the oil pressure switch cause the motor not to change from 8 to 4 cylinder on 2007 Chevrolet Impala SS

The car is using more gas and the check engine lit is on code is po522 and po523. Can that cause this problem

Yes. My oil pressure sensor went bad last week and then my car stopped switching to 4 cylinder mode and the remote start wouldn't work either. Changed it a few days ago and now it switches to 4 and the remote start works again.
Yes. It can cause issues with the AFM system. AFM will be disabled if the system sees (or thinks it sees) low oil psi. Check the wires to the switch and make sure they are not broken or shorted anywhere. If they are not, then replace the Oil PSI switch. If there are still issues after this, then you will need a scan tool (not a code scanner) for diag.
That happened to my 2007 Impala SS. its your mass air flow sensor. if you have a K&N air filter, or any aftermarket air filter, they come from the factory with oil in and on the filter. that oil can gum up you eye on mass flow, causing it to throw those codes. your computer is seeing codes and to not further any damage its shutting down that system. cost me $80 to find that out. get carb cleaner and clean you intake and throttle body. ask if you don't know where those sensors are located. have your codes reset and you should be all set.
