Will not idle

(1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)
in Dupont, OH on November 29, 2010
my 99 chevy 4.8L died on me on the way to kentuckey and now it will not idle at all. It will start if you have your foot on the gas and stay runing untill you take your foot off the gas. I hooked a scaner up to it and the only code i got was something about the mass air flow sensor. So i took the one off of my 05 chevy and it didn't make a difference so i thought i would check the fuel pressure and it is at 55 psi which is what it should be so i was wanting to know if anyone has had this problem or might know what is causing this

You could have an idle air control valve issue - but I want to caution you that a 2005 Chevy mass air flow sensor and your 1999 unit are two different things. And besides, you will have to clear the computer memory to have it start reading the replacement MAF sensor.

MAF's don't usually cause a stall, though; I suspect a possible severe air intake leak or vacuum leak.
