WILL NOT GO OVER 30 MPH

(1999 Ford Mustang)
MY ALTERNATOR WENT OUT ON MY CAR. I CHANGED IT BUT NOW IT WILL NOT GO OVER 30MPH. BUT THISA REALLY STARTED THE DAY THAT ALTERTOR WENT OUT. NOW SOME ONE TOLD ME THAT THE PC IN THE HAS TO RESET ITSELF BY ME DRIVING ANYWHERE FROM 50 TO 150 MILES. IS THIS TRUE OR DO I NEED SOMEONE TO TAKE A NOTHER LOOK AT IT?

If you disconnect the battery, it should clear the PCM memory, other wise it is something else. Any yellow lights on?
