Will a CTS stop the car from running while driving it?

(1991 Cadillac DeVille)
Can a Coolant Temperature Switch (CTS) cause this car to shut off while driving, not allowing the car to start by turning the key. But allowing the car to start by jumping the starter solenoid?

Not really, the coolant temp sensor will still prevent the car from starting, even with a jump to the solenoid. if you have to jump the solenoid, it may be your ignition switch
