Why is there pressure in the gas tank and clicking by the rear tire?

(2001 Chrysler Town & Country)
in Potwin, KS on July 21, 2013
When I start up the van I hear a clicking by the rear drivers side tire, I then hear a hissing from pressure being built up in the gas tank, when I shut the van off the clicking starts again like it is releasing the pressure. If I take the gas cap off in between all this there is a lot of pressure that is released from the gas tank, I have never heard this from any vehicle. Is this thing going to blow up?
