Why is my truck still acting up after seeing mechanic.

(1999 Ford F-150)
in Derby, KS on December 23, 2015
When I accelerate my truck starts to jerk and engine sounds like it is skipping, my mechanic tuned up my truck and replace some coils but its still doing it but not as bad.

I took it back, and he said, it would have to get worse because nothing was picking up on his machine. I don't understand why he couldn't fix it the first time, we paid $327 for a tune up and coils.

you say tune up and coils?what was replaced?both coils, spark plugs and spark plug wires?did you get your old parts back that were removed?what size engine?do you know this person that did the work?

He replaced just the coils, he did not give me the parts back. My truck is a 4.6, he had been or mechanic for a very long time.

replacing 2 coils @70.00 each is NOT a tune up?you have 8 spark plugs and wires.it could be one or a number of things causing your problem.it could be as small as a vacuum leak at the pcv valve, which is a problem on that engine anyways!

Should I go to a different mechanic?

that's up to you.i would be out there trying to find it myself instead of waiting for it to get worse.
