Too much oil can cause rough running as the engine will struggle to circulate it, as well as internal parts that should move freely will be submerged in the excess oil.

You'll want to have the car inspected, codes pulled, and properly diagnosed. Trial and error can get expensive very quickly if you're unable to land on the issue. Could be anything from a faulty sensor to coolant leaking from the intake manifold and getting sucked into the combustion chamber.
