Q: Why doesnt my temperature gauge work when I still have heat?? on 2001 Chevrolet Impala

My temperature gauge doesnt work and I have already replaced the thermostat. My car still has heat, the gauge just wont READ it....

their are a set of ground wires on a nut under the exhaust manifold in the front of the engine, the one that holds the motor and trans together, you will need new eyelits and extend the wires to keep the tension off of them,splice the extension wires on and crimp the new eyelits on the ends of the wires, put the eyelits back on the stud and tighten the nut you removed earlier. also replace the temp sensor and the plug pigtail with a new pigtail, splice it it in and your done, no more fan running on, and temp hand not working. Heavy chevy 102.
Sounds like you may have a problem with the temp sender switch. The thermostat, although a type of switch, controls the flow of fluid from block to radiator. The sender/sensor is the link to the dash temp gauge. Hope this was helpfull. goodluck.
