Why does the brake light cause transmission problems?

when my emergency brake light flashes why does it cause the tranmission to go into limp mode i can only drive up to 20mph?

Car's electrical systems and electronics are so intertwined any more. A brake pedal/brake light switch input is needed to get the car out of Park and perhaps it is a safety feature that if the computer thinks you are low in brake fluid it does not want you to be capably of driving 100 mph.
