Why does security light stay on and engine won't crank?
How should I fix this?

No temporary solutions have worked.
Has occured once or twice before but now it seems permanent.
Have switched key ignition, along with the VATS module and matching key.

Most of these require a little diagnosis first but many times the ignition lock cylinder is what fails.
