Why does my front axle make a tink noise while driving

(1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)
While driving I hear a tinking sound in front end but u joints are good
What seems to make the problem better or worse? Can only hear at low speed
How long have you had this problem? Bout 2 months

Well I have to assume it is 4x4 ... front driveshaft isn’t even supposed to be rotating while operating
in 2 WD so that pretty much eliminates FRONT universal joints.

However a “tinking sound” is indeed indicative of a failing / DRY u-joint .. Only way to check is driveshaft removal so a thorough inspection can be properly performed.
