Why do my brake caliper pins slide out about 1 inch

They are worn out....OR damaged... Replace them!!.. Lubricate the new ones and use a smaller hammer to install...!!!!... Stop them at the proper place so the locks engage!!!!.... What else??

Do you have the caliper mounted?....My bad , thanks to pushrod for reminding me of Fords 'old' style , that I completely forgot about!!
