Which changes - the transponder key or the car computer?

(2009 Toyota Corolla)
When I buy a blank transponder key, and then use a program like Techstream to "register a new ID code" for a car like the 2009 Toyota Corolla (which has physical keys that contain a transponder for the immobiliser)....

Am I ADDING the new key's radio frequency to a LIST on the car's computer, or...

Am I CHANGING the key's radio frequency to match the frequency the car needs to start?

The keys are static and do not change.

The transceiver registers the keys.

Although, frankly I'm not sure why or if it matters. You need to program all keys at the same time with a proper tool that will do it. That's it.

I'm trying to understand whether the following errors are referring to my MASTER, the NEW key, or both.

> Error Key Registration - The Registration has failed. The communication error occurred between the key and the ECU.
> B2794: Unmatched Encryption Code
> B2795: Unmatched Key Code

I'm sorry that I don't know a thing about "Techstream".

I only know proprietary manufacturer diagnostic tools allow security access and programming. Other software and hardware -- would suggest consulting their resources.
