The coolant temperature sensor in your 1999 Pontiac Sunfire should be located in the thermostat housing which is where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine block. There is no way to know if replacing the coolant temp sensor will correct your problem with out properly diagnosing the condition. You may need the help of a qualified repair shop.
