When the spanner appears after the service countdown, how many miles can you go?

(2009 Audi A3)

The countdown has stopped and the spanner has appeared on the display. I would like to know how many miles I can safely drive without doing any long term damage. Thanks.

That is a MAINT REQ symbol. It is suggested you have your car checked. The light will stay on until you have it serviced by a qualified service center to have it reset. No damaged will resort from driving it with the light on, just wear and tear as usual. Just a reminder for you to get a physical exam.
