Q: When I've been driving lately, when I make turns, a little red gas can indicator turns on, beeps, and flashes. I was wondering what could be the cause of this issue and how I could handle it? on 1999 Volkswagen Cabrio

That's not a gas can , its an OIL can
Check your oil level.

In the engine you have an oil pump
If the oil sucks up air instead of oil , the light will come on. This means the pump has lost pressure.
Just like when you turn a corner YOU feel like leaning to one side, When you turn a corner , the oil in the pan goes to one side. Because there is not enough oil in the pan it sucks air instead.

ADD oil.
Open the hood over the engine
There is a stick coming out of the engine ( probably has a yellow handle on it)
Might say OIL right on it.
Pull it out , wipe it off with a napkin.

Put it back in for 2 seconds , pull it out .
The end of the stick will have a place indicate for safe level.

Add oil till the area on the end of the stick is covered .

From experience , if an oil light comes on from a low level at LEAST 1.5 to 2 quarts is needed
