What makes the brake lights stay on when the engin is off

the brake light stay on when the engin is off what could cause that to happen it started on 9-14-10

also check the rubber grommet that the switch touches on,alot of times they crumble and will affect the switch operation in that there is nothing for it to press against.

I've had the same issue. where can I find these rubber grommets? i cant seem to find them in the auto parts store.

bad brake light switch. it is on the brake pedal support.

bumper pad located located between brake light switch and dash asimbly disenttagrates due to age. two are used, 1. brake lite switch. 2 cruse control. serve as cushion.
