What causes the engine to lose power? "Reduced engine power" message.

Out of nowhere my check engine light comes on, and I lose power. "Reduced Engine Power" message comes on and signals that I need to service stabilitrac. Well I took it in and they replaced the spark plugs and wires and reprogramed the throttle body. Well all was good for about 4 days and then the same thing happened. I also have been losing oil a little quicker than usual. When it does happen I pull of to the side of the road, shut the engine off, open the hood to check for any burning or anything and nothing. I close the hood, start it up and it moves on. Not sure if this is a trend with this model. The tell me that I may need to get an engine rebuild but can't tell me why or diagnos the problem.

scan test for codes it could be a plugged cat but if it is engine related I would start by doing a compression test
