What causes play in steering

(1990 Chevrolet Camaro)

when driving down road, it is hard to keep car steering in straight line, weaves from side to side and have to keep compensating with steering wheel to keep it straight. Steering does not seem tight.

Wear in the suspension and or steering bushings or anything bent in the steering or suspension can cause this and should be evident in the presence of unusual tire wear. Have the suspension, steering, wheel bearings checked as this condition may be dangerous. After getting the worn or damaged parts are replaced have the steering aligned.

could be tie rods. move wheel back n forth look for play in tie rods. local ailinment shop would give you free estimate
