Volvo XC90 Recall 06V144000
The Windshield Wipers May Fail in Extreme Winter Weather Conditions
The windshield wipers may fail if operated with a snow load on, or the wipers frozen to, the windshield.
Volvo will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning September 5, 2006. If you encounter problems with the windshield wipers due to snow buildup, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It's helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) when you call.
If the windshield wipers are activated in extreme winter weather conditions and without lifting the wiper arms and cleaning the windshield prior to moving, the wiper arm can slip on its driveshaft, resulting in an inability to move the wipers from the park position. Inoperative wipers during inclement weather conditions could cause a crash due to reduced visibility. Dealers will replace the wiper arms and retaining nuts to correct this concern. The Volvo recall number is R156.
