On August 27, 2012, Volvo recalled 300 Volvo S80. Volvo is recalling certain model year 2013 s80 and xc70 vehicles. a software error within the central electronic module (cem) will result in the "tpms service required" message appearing after approximately 15 minutes of accumulated driving over 25 mph. the error will prevent the tire pressure monitoring system from warning the driver that a tire needs air. thus, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 138, "tire pressure monitoring system."

The low tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) may incorrectly display the "TPMS Service Required" message.

As of this writing, Volvo has not provided information on when they will be notifying owners of affected vehicles. If you note the "TPMS Service Required" message being displayed, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It’s helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.

The transmission may not downshift correctly (such as shifting from fifth to fourth when coasting) due to a computer software error. This could result in lower than expected engine RPMs and possible engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Volvo will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning July 19, 2012. If you are experiencing stalling or transmission shifting issues, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It’s helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
