(volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 jetta, beetle, beetle convertible, passat, golf/gti and golf sportwagen vehicles. in the affected vehicles, the camshaft lobe that drives the brake vacuum pump may shear off, resulting in a loss of brake assist.

The power assist for the braking system may fail, causing difficulty and extra effort braking. This could result in an accident.

Recall repairs on your Volkswagen must be performed by a Volkswagen dealership. Volkswagen will send an initial notification of this recall to owners of affected vehicles starting by December 2015, with repairs expected to begin in March 2016. If you did not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Volkswagen dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
