On October 20, 2014, Volkswagen recalled 442,000 Volkswagen Beetle. Volkswagen group of america, inc. (volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2011-2013 jetta vehicles manufactured march 1, 2010, to november 30, 2012, and 2012-2013 beetle vehicles manufactured march 1, 2011, to july 31, 2013. the durability of the rear trailing arms may be reduced in vehicles whose rear trailing arms have been previously deformed, such as a result of a rear or side-rear impact crash.

A component of the rear suspension could break unexpectedly, resulting in loss of vehicle control.

Volkswagen will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning November 2014. A second notice will be sent when remedy parts become available. If you don't receive notification in a timely manner and believe you should have, please contact your Volkswagen dealer for further instruction. They may ask for your vehicle identification number (VIN), so please have it handy when you call.

Vehicles with leather sports seats are being recalled. If the right front seat gets wet, the airbag system may not detect the presence of a child safety seat placed on that seat and deploy inadvertently.  

As of this writing, Volkswagen has not yet released a notification schedule for this recall. There may be no symptoms related to this recall, using child seat only in the rear seats would be advisable until this recall is completed.
