I recently had my friend clear the code for Evap. system & Secondary Air injection. Knowing that i had inspection due at the end of the month. I needed to diagnose the issue. In that time from clearing the codes i put 600 miles with no return engine light. So i thought it would be OK to run it through! Even with engine light out i still did not pass for the same two codes. It ststed Not Ready for codes listed. Also where it said 2nd. emmissions test performed evry section passed, But gas cap! So during maintenance i purchased new cap.Within 18 miles the light went back on. Can someone give me some input?? Will it cycle through?? HELP!!

If you have codes, you can't fix anything by turning out the light, if only it were that easy. You have to diagnose and repair the codes. You have an EVAP problem and a Secondary Air Injection System problem, these are common on GM trucks and SUVs. Need to have someone inspect the systems to find the cause of the faults codes. I do Emissions work in Calif and there is no alternative.
