Question Asked: Remove the Engine to replace a part
August 28, 2009, 08:43 PM
I took my car to get an estimate for services. I was told I need and oil change, engine oil pan & gasket and Engine oil pump. I was also told in order to replace the pump the would have to remove the engine and the charge for labor in removing the engine is $630.00. Other people who would not look at the car is tell me they do not have to remove the enginge in order the replace and fix those parts. Would you be able to tell me if the Engine in my car needs to be remove to fix those parts?
Car Review: 1999 Ford Explorer

I've had my Explorer for 10 years now,it had 7 miles when I brought it and now I have 222,652 miles. Beside the 3 recalls, the hood, the seatbelt and the tires I must say I've had no major problems until now (Engine oil pump)and I'm not going to complain. Thumbs up to Ford!
