Question Asked: Timing Chain Diagnosis
April 12, 2009, 02:45 PM
My truck engine does not make any strange noises when the engine is cold. However, after the engine warns up and you turn the engine off for awhile and then restart it, the timing chain area is making a slapping/knocking noise. This noise will only occur when you put it in a drive/reverse gear. Also, after you gain speed the noise seems to disappear. Only makes the slapping/knocking noise at very low speed--like when you are starting from a dead stop. How can I diagnosis as to whether or not the problem is the timing chain?
