I really like to take my car to them because they go over and above to take care of me. They provided me a ride to work so they could work on my car. They do a really good job and I've never had any problems.

well you still could be out 180 degrees with your dist. You needed to make sure that the piston is at TDC on the compression stoke. Have you check to make sure the cam is turning ? This is easy remove the oil fill cap and look inside at the cam while some one cranks the engine. If it doesn't move them the belt you put on 3 years ago could have a problem. Timing belts can be temperamental. If something like a idle pulley bearing go bad it could damage the belt. If they are not adjusted correctly then there life span will be greatly reduced. I would also check fuel pressure. You need the basic 3 things to have a running engine. 1. Fuel, 2. Air, 3. Spark(at the right time)
One of these are missing

the best thing I can recommend for a do it yourself guy is get the steering knuckle off the van and take it to your auto machine shop. They should be able to press the old bearing out and the new one in for less than 100 bucks

I am a trans guy. I have seen this problem before. You will need a new shifter cable but you need to fix another problem with the shifter cable. The manual linkage in the trans need some attention. It can be costly but how I go about fixing this problem is.
1. I replace a cable
2. Remove the valve body and install a transgo update kit
3. Hone the trans case were the shifter rod goes through.
What the problem is that the rod is too tight in the trans housing. I put the kit in the valve body is due to the problems with this transmission that make this trans go bad. If there is no problems with the trans then there won't be any problems in the future. But most of the time the car has 160000 miles on it and the trans needs help. So at that point I give out my menu price of a trans overhaul. In this case i can repair this car for about 2000

You have a couple of different things that could cause that.
1. Bad speedometer
2. Bad cable, I pretty sure that car still has a cable.
3. Bad transmission of a part inside of it, like the drive gear

Well I have seen a couple of these cars do what you are talking about. First, is the check engine light on and codes for timing issues ? If so I bet you need and exhaust cam pulley. If not then my guess is that the idle air bypass is not working correctly
Thanks
It runs fine plenty of power idles fine......
That's a tough question. It could be many things. I can tell you what I would check first. Is the ignition system in good working order? Is there a vacuum leak? Is the IAC Motor working correctly ? When it's running fine is the idle high ? I would recommend that you fine a good shop that you can trust and let them take a look at it
There is smoke coming from the tailpipe ev...
I think that you have a couple of different problems going on their . That car line has problems with the plastic intake manifold going bad so you could have a vacuum leak. But I think that your problem or problems might be a little deeper than that. But to answer your question on how to find a vacuum. The best way I how found is to use a smoke machine but I bet you do not have one. So one thing you could do is to use a fuel that the motor will burn. One thing is carburetor cleaner. Make sure your engines ignition system is in good order. Start the engine and let it idle. Spray the cleaner in the area that you suspect might be the problem. If the engine changes rpm in anyway you most likely have a leak. Make sure that you have a fire extinguisher ready if any problem was to arise.
