Trunk latch does not work with remote

(2006 Acura TL)
Inside trunk release does not work and key remote does not release trunk latch. When trunk is open nd latch is closed both remote and inside release operate if trunk is not shut
What seems to make the problem better or worse? Trunk latch is operational if not shut
How long have you had this problem? 2 weeks

Definitely difficult to know what is going on here; the only thing that comes to mind is ensuring proper alignment of the latch and striker - if there is a variance, there could be too much tension to allow the actuator to release the latch. A sluggish actuator could also function without tension, but be inoperative when latched.
