Truck running but oil pressure goes to zero when I stop

(1996 Dodge Ram 1500)
Oil pressure drops to zero on idle when at a stop. I put nine quarts of oil and did a tune up.
What seems to make the problem better or worse? When truck stops it drops in oil preasure
How long have you had this problem? About two weeks

Nine quarts of oil is a bit excessive!

IF oil pressure gauge increases with engine rpms - upon acceleration - it is likely an internal failure.

However manual testing is the place to start.

Hello, I would recommend having the oil pressure of the engine checked for actual pressure with a mechanical gauge attached to see how much you are actually producing. The gauge or sending unit for the gauge may be faulty -- rather than the engine producing insufficient pressure.
