Transmission swap from a 4t60e to a 4t65e

(1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo)
in Keyser, WV on October 23, 2010
I have a 1996 monte carlo z34 with a 4t60e transmission in it. It is no good. I bought a 1997 monte carlo z34 with a 4t65e transmission in it. The plug wiring on the transmissions are different. I have the whole 1997 car if I need pmc or wiring harness I have it. Will it work in my 1996. I have not been able to get anyone to tell me wheather it will work or not.

not without great effort. it would be cheaper to have the 4t60 rebuilt. the 65 needs a complete harness, axles and lots of other goodies. did one in a 97 grand prix and it cost the guy over 3 grand.

Thanks,
i was not sure what transmission was in the 1997 till I bought it.I got allot of parts off of it that I needed for my other car. I have the transmission ready to come out.I wanted to be sure it would fit before I took it all the way out. Thanks for information.
