Transmission problem

(1999 Ford Explorer)
in Dublin, OH on January 24, 2011
my explorer( auto transmission) is stuck in gear 2 and could not get out. I just have all the fluid changed a few days ago. should I have someone change the transmission filter first before we do a total teardown to find out what's wrong? where should I go from now? Thanks

I am concerned that a fluid change was perfomed and now you have an issue. Did you have a complete fluid exchange using a machine, or was it a drain and fill?

Verifying proper fluid and level is always the first step.
