I JUST RECENTLY HAD A PROBLEM WITH 2ND GEAR STAYING ENGAGED TOO LONG, DOES THAT MEAN ITS GOIN BAD AND I WILL HAVE TO GET A TRANSMISSION REPLACED OR WOULD A FLUID AND FILTER CHANGE DO THE TRICK? I AM SCHEDULED FOR A FILTER/FLUID CHANGE THIS WEEKEND
TRANS SLIPPAGE on 1995 Dodge Ram Van 2500
A fluid and filter change is a good idea, if it's the right time to do it. Sometimes it can smooth out a problem like this, and sometimes it's too late. I would not recommend doing a flush with a machine, and make sure that you use Dodge's recommended trans fluid.

buy a manual and adjust the bands it worked for me
I had an issue in the winter of '09 in MI where I was helping someone out of a snow drift and my Ram 1500 transmission didn't want to reengage after I got the person out of the snow drift. I had a fluid and filter change done later that summer and have had no problems since. I have towed multiple vehicles and boats since as well.
