Based on what you're saying, I feel like there is a failure in the shifter fork area of the transmission. The linkage could be an issue also, but I'm thinking that what happened happened inside the unit where the fork selects gears. Some diassembly will be required to pin point the source of the problem.
thank . im pritty handy with cars but first time i had issues wityh manual trans.i havent got under neath it to c if any thing down there.. but r u thanking the tranny needs to b disambled? or the shifter assembly? do ya got a facebook?
It will need to be at least accessed. The shifter first, but the fork and such is at the top of the trans where the shifter mounts. I'm not entirely sure about that transmission, but most need to be pulled out to service.
