The transmission oil cooler is in the radiator so that should not be the problem. Not sure if that transmission has a vacuum modulator if it does disconnect the hose see if it has oil in it if so the diaphragm is ripped and allowing transmission oil to be drawn into the engine. Could the piston rings or cylinder bore be damaged? Are the plugs oil fouled. A cylinder leakage test may be in order to tell the condition of the engine.
