For vehicles equipped with aftermarket accessory seat heaters, the seat heater elements in the front seats may short circuit if they are damaged by the seat cushion being compressed over time. This could result in a fire hazard.

Recalls on your Toyota must be performed by a Toyota dealership. Toyota will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in July, 2016. If you do receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Toyota dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.

The load carrying capacity modification label may be missing.

This could be considered a medium priority recall; this would change to high if your vehicle is subject to carrying heavy loads. Please contact your Toyota dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.

RepairPal Expert Overview on December 21, 2006

Some vehicles are equipped with a restraint device called a curtain side air bag. This is a larger air bag that covers the side of the vehicle in the event of a roll over or side impact. On some vehicles, these air bags may not be secured properly. In an accident, they may not deploy properly.

We at RepairPal have designated this a high priority recall; the side air bags may not deploy properly in a collision. Please contact your Toyota dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
