On May 13, 2015, Toyota recalled 159,700 Toyota RAV4. Toyota motor engineering & manufacturing (toyota) is recalling certain model year 2004-2005 toyota rav4 vehicles manufactured may 13, 2003, to october 25, 2005. the affected vehicles are equipped with a dual-stage driver frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which could cause the inflator to rupture or the air bag to deploy abnormally.

When deployed due to a crash, the drivers side air bag may deploy abnormally, or the inflator can rupture. This could injure the driver.

Toyota will notify owners of affective vehicles in mid-July 2015. Additionally, you may contact your dealership to see if your vehicle is affected. The dealership may ask for your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), so please have it on hand when you contact them.

Toyota, Scion, and Lexus will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning April 6, 2006. There are no symptoms related to this recall.
