On June 2, 2016, Toyota recalled 7,749 Toyota Highlander. Southeast toyota distributors, llc (set) is recalling certain 2005-2011 4runner, highlander, sequoia, and sienna, 2005-2010 avalon and tundra, 2006-2008 camry solara, 2006-2011 rav4 and tacoma, 2007-2010 fj cruiser, 2009-2010 venza, 2010-2012 prius, 1988-1990 and 2005-2010 camry, and 1989 and 2009-2010 corolla vehicles equipped with aftermarket accessory seat heaters with a copper strand heating element. the electrical wiring in the seat heaters may be damaged when the seat cushion is compressed.

For vehicles equipped with aftermarket accessory seat heaters, the seat heater elements in the front seats may short circuit if they are damaged by the seat cushion being compressed over time. This could result in a fire hazard.

Recalls on your Toyota must be performed by a Toyota dealership. Toyota will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in July, 2016. If you do receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Toyota dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
