Q: told the dealer repair checkin perseon that my keyless entry didn't work - on 2003 Honda CR-V

i replaced the battery and i still could not get in drivers side unless i used the actual key. He said i needed a new "whatever" and said it was $165. Picked up car and the new keyless remote still did not open drivers door. I wanted my money back - they said they could not return the keyless remote as the box was open. I didn't open it. Dealer repair men opened and said my door worked "NOW." Well - it doens't.
Now they say i need something called an actuator - and they will be more money........and and still need to make arrangements to have my car left at shop another day - get a ride etc. Dealer said they wouldn't charge me labor - but the new part is $300.......

drivers door lock actuator... If that one doesn't respond then none of the others will.try this... manually unlock all doors (windows can be down to make this easier) ..try to lock them with remote-?nothing? just manually lock the drivers door only..then use the remote to lock the rest..hit the remote a second time ...does the horn beep? try to unlock with the remote ? nothing?.. manually unlock drivers door then hit unlock on remote twice do the rest unlock on the second push of the remote?..Let me know what your results were and I'll tell you something funny.
Thanks for you help - I tried all of your steps (w/ my original remote and the new - useless one) that the dealer gave me - that I paid for. They said my locks work now.........I paid $ and did not get my problem corrected. I'll be back there on Monday - demanding a full refund and I will take my business elsewhere!!!

Anyway, your steps did not get the remote to unlock the driver's door.
if you don't replace the faulty door lock actuator, it won't work.( I'm assuming that the power lock does not work from the door switch either.)?
Yes - that looks like what I will have to do.........just wondering why the dealer told me "all I need is a new keyless entry"...........paid for that and it didn't solve problem. Now I have to pay for an actuator!
HONDA of DULLES -formerly Leesburg Honda , Only 3-4 hours away.(only-yeah right)......never mind best of luck with your dealer and remember you're experience.If they (honda) send you a survey (or call/online)let them know about it !!that symptom is a common one which is very easy to diagnose, most of the time without even taking anything apart.
