it has a timing belt not a chain.Recommended replacement 60,000 miles, normal driving conditions. "Interference engine". Pump is driven off the accessory belt,not the timing belt! only replace water pump if problem with leaking or noise. either engine,both are 2.0L engines!!

when should timing belt be changed preventively on the 2010 Elantra? Is it a belt or a chain? Would water pump require changed at same time?
