Timing belt broke with possible engine interference

The auto repair shop is helping plowing out from this blizzard and Im on edge to know how common it is for the timeing belt broke to cause engine interference problems, Id like an idea how common it could just be the belt or bent valves?

You have an interference engine an most likely there's valve damage. Sometimes snow can get into the t-belt area and cause problems.
