The waiting to start want come on and I don't hear the clicking noise

(1990 Ford F-250)

This problem started when I change out the streening column. The switch turn on the dash lights. and the starter motor.

You could have a glow plug wiring harness issue. However, since it's happening after replacing the column, it could be something I can't really conceive of without being hands on. I recommend consulting a local expert technician. Good luck.
