The heater doesnt work

The last owner did something under the dash to get it to work I need to know what he could have done so i can do it

The temperature blend door actuator is an electric motor.

There is a blend door that controls the direction of air through the das either through the evaporator core for a/c or heater core for heat. This is usually connected to the controls via a cable. The cable is broken so he just manipulated it manually.
