The engine backfires on acceleration/low power/poor performance after warming up

(1991 Dodge Dakota)
The engine backfires on acceleration/low power/poor performance after warming up. It operates without an issue cold, every time. It seems like when the system goes into open loop operation the problem occurs, 3-5 minutes after starting, every time. Had coolant sensor and coil driver codes, replaced the coolant sensor and complete secondary ignition (cap, rotor, wires, plugs, coil), eliminated codes, problem still exists. Started throwing parts at it with no result (distributor pick up, O2 sensor, TP sensor, even swapped engine controller). Compression 125-130 all cylinders. Tried killing each cylinder independently. Pulled on/wiggled on wiring, checked connectors/continuity.

Remove your distributor cap, grasp the rotor and try to rotate it. If you can rotate it more than 3/16" back and forth, your distributor drive gear and bushing will have to be replaced. the bushing is pressed into the cylinder block under the drive gear. Your local dealership should have the proper tools to perform this job. Then the distributor (camshaft sensor) has to be "Syncronized" with the Crank position sensor. If the two sensors are out of sync, the engine will run rough or not start at all.
