The check engine light came on it said we needed to replace the EGR valve we did

(2002 Dodge Stratus)
in Westville, NJ on July 08, 2012
when we took it up to an auto parts store to have them scan it. now it gives back a code P0403 now we do not know what to do. Is there a way to clear the codes with out the scanner? I would like to find out if the other error will come back or did we fix the problem? The auto parts store will not clear the codes for us and we do not have a scanner. Thank you

Who said you needed an EGR valve? If the store you bought the part from did then take the car to them or who ever told
you to replace the part.If that does not work out, get back to me.
