(2002 Ford Mustang GT)
in Fletcher, NC on June 26, 2011
When the steering wheel is turned there is a squealing noise that comes from the stearing unit. more so to the left than the right. the steering is not hard or sluggish, just makes noise. there are no leaks in the system either. any ideas?

Check the fluid when it's cold, engine not running, and been sitting at least overnight. If it's low, add the proper fluid. If it's OK, check it running to be sure. if it's full of bubbles, then it ran low, sucked air and will make noise for a few days, or until the bubbles clear.
If you have any doubts about your steering, get it checked out ASAP because it's a safety issue.
