Sputtering

(1996 Audi A4)
in Wilmington, NC on May 22, 2009
When I'm driving, the initial acceleration of the vehicle is fine but when I get up to 35-45 mph the car sputters. What is causing my car to do this?

You could have any of several basic problems regarding fuel or ignition. Try confirming fuel pressure as you accelerate , missing or sputtering accompanied by falling fuel pressure could be as simple as a restricted fuel filter.
Failing spark plugs or cables are a possibility as well.......
