the altenator was just replaced. but the speedometer is pegged and wont return to zero. how do i get it back to zero nd will it still work ok?

somthing is most likely wrong with the speed sensor. i had the same problem. mines used to stay up and sometimes skipp while driving and never showed the actual speed.
i replaced the speed sensor. worked a little better. then i removed the dash cluster and replaced the speed cluster.
i used an old speed sensor from a junkyard, saved 120 dollars. instead of buying it from the autoparts store
