I was very satisfied and would be happy to recommend them.

I'm always greeted and welcomed. I could get a lift somewhere but usually I stay since I'm told how long the work will take. All the people who work there are honest, experienced, and competent.

by - Verified Customer August 01, 2017

I got my battery replaced very quickly, and conveniently.

I searched high and low and could not located a repair order for a Jeff on or around June 19th and cannot seem to locate one so I cannot respond directly concerning this review. Repairpal doesn't show the customers who review us. Perhaps the work was done under a spouses name.

Regardless, I will state emphatically that we DO NOT and WILL NOT bait and switch perform work a customer has not authorized. We strive to be honest in our communication with customers regarding their vehicles and what a repair will cost. I would guess in this case we had an honest miscommunication with this customer and if that is the case we do apologize.

I came in to get my car inspected before a long trip from Wisconsin to New York. They inspected it, did a repair, and said that I was good to go. Later I found out that my brake pads were completely worn out and they never even noticed that! I could have been killed!

Reply from South Street Motors – by southstreetmotors October 04, 2017

We are sorry you feel you had a bad experience with us. I reviewed your work order. The vehicle was brought in for A/C issues, not a trip inspection, and we noted the timing belt was overdue by mfr recommendation. We recommended an a/c expansion valve (declined) and timing belt. we performed a timing belt, water pump replacement on a 2010 Aveo with 81,000 miles. I personally recall looking over this vehicle and recall no brake issues that raised red flags with me. We DO pay particular attention to brakes and had a wheel off to do the timing belt which would have given us a good view of the pads. A drive to New York is quite a ways away and problems can arise on a long trip. We are also human and can occasionally miss something. If we indeed missed a problem, we sincerely apologize. If there was a problem we always welcome direct communication and feedback from our customers so that we can address/resolve the issue at hand. - MW

I consider Mark a friend. He has really been a great resource for me. The shop is conveniently located. More importantly, Mark is meticulous, fastidious, and gets things done. I appreciate that he keeps me informed about things. I also think the general maintenance surrounding his shop helps to bring business in.

by - Verified Customer May 04, 2017

Overall this shop is really great! The owner, Mike, was super nice and took time to explain things in terms I would understand. My only complaint would be the frequency of communication during the intermediate time the work was being done. I was difficult to reach anyone, perhaps everyone was in the shop.

We are sorry you had a less than desirable experience with us. Indeed we occasionally have had issues with maintaining communication with our customers. We are a small shop have limited staff and everyone wears many hats. Some days it can be difficult to answer the phone when your hands are coated with grease, you are underneath a truck, or working with another customer. We GREATLY appreciate your understanding.

We do have BRIAN working part-time in the front office now and he's doing a terrific job for us in maintaining customer communication. We will continue to try to improve in this area, THANK YOU SO MUCH for your feedback!

Quick service, good value. Actually salvaged the O2 sensor instead of just replacing it and charging me more. About half the price Meineke's would have charged, and South Street did better work.

by - Verified Customer April 25, 2017

I noticed the price was actually cheaper than other local shops. I was super impressed with the professionalism and attentiveness. I tell people about this shop all the time.

They did not originally diagnose the problem correctly. They also had scheduling issues that caused delays, where I dropped off my vehicle, had to come and get it, bring it a different day. Finally was fixed correctly, I think.

Reply from South Street Motors – by southstreetmotors October 04, 2017

I reviewed this work order. We did diagnose the problem correctly as bad lower ball joints. We had issues getting the correct parts and would not have had time to install them by the time the customer needed the car back. We ended up having to reschedule for another day.

We make every effort to complete work in a timely manner but occasionally run into problems outside of our control. We certainly appreciate your understanding on this day.

I had a convoluted repair, so many things wrong with the car that were only found after digging in and seeing what they had. They kept the costs down and went the extra mile to keep me satisfied. If I had to say one bad thing: No loaners, but that said, it's another reason they can keep their costs down.

Reply from South Street Motors – by southstreetmotors October 04, 2017

Thanks for the great review!

We've had discussions about loaner cars in the past. There is considerable expenses involved in maintaining a loaner car fleet. We do try to keep overhead costs to a minimum and that translates to lower costs for our customers. I don't believe there are many independent repair shops that supply loaners for that reason. Body Shops yes, Repair Shops no. We understand customers need their cars back as soon as possible and we do our best to make that happen.

We DO offer Sun Prairie Taxi within the city limits of Sun Prairie free of charge. Coupons are at the front counter, just let one of our staff know you need a ride.

Air bag removal should only be done by a trained professional. An air bag modules contain small explosive charges with compressed gas. Untrained individuals can be severely injured or killed removing air bags. If in doubt, go on youtube and search for air bag explosions and you can see the power of one of these devices.
how do you replace a fuel pressure regulat...
If you need to ask this question, take it to a certified repair center in your area. The fuel pressure regulator located under the upper intake plenum.
Engine has 130K miles. Timing belt replac...
Timing Belt replacement is common on these and we always recommend replacing all the timing components. ESPECIALLY the sprocketed idler pulley which is prone to failure. Head Gasket replacement also comes as a standard item on the Subarus. They leak coolant and oil. However, a rod or other engine failure is NOT a typical cause of head gasket replacement. You always have the option of taking your car to another shop for a second opinion on the root cause of the failure. I would especially recommend this if the shop stating 'compression difference' is the same one that just replaced your head gaskets. Good Luck.
