Sound from engine compartment

(2002 Toyota Avalon)

Hi All,
When I start my car, it starts to make a sound from the right side of the engine compartment. Some days this is not there at all. Any one has any info ?

When you say right side of the engine do you mean right side as seen sitting in the driver's seat, or right side looking into the engine compartment? I suspect a fan belt is "loose". The fan belts are on the passenger side of the engine and may give a high pitched squeal when you first start the car or turn the steering wheel.

Yes. I meant right side as seen sitting in the driver's seat. It seems what you said is correct. Thaks a lot :)
