Sometimes it won't start without giving it gas and keep it running.

(1999 Chevrolet Malibu)
The fuel pump is running even though it makes a humming noise on top of the buzz noise it always made. For the most part it would start right up besides the theft crap we all go through with these cars from time to time but now it's getting worse and won't stay running without help every 4 or 5 starts. Is there a sensor or what?

yes I took it and #3 was a misfire so I changed all pugs/wires and then cleaned air intake and sprayed into the fuel regulator. Also I cut the yellow wire off the ignition switch so the security system is disabled. It now runs better and starts much easier but I still have to give it gas even though its much less to get it started. I do try to start it without giving it any gas and it will start sometimes but idle at about 4 to 500 only until i give it some gas then it idles right at 6 to 700 unless its cold then it idles at 1000 then drops to 6 or 700. Once Its warmed up it idles great. I don't think is the fuel regulator since there's no smell. When driving it runs great and sounds great. I also cleared the check eng light and it hasn't come back on after about 100+ miles of driving. Should I just let it go until the light comes on or do you know something I am missing or even a tip. I'm layed off so I don't have money to spend. Is the car on a timer to die or what? Thanx for any feed back I really am grateful.
